20-year-old innovator Khalifa Aminu has created AI-powered smart glasses to help visually impaired people navigate without a cane or guide. The glasses allow visually impaired users to interact with AI hands-free through voice commands, while supporting features such as taking photos and videos, translating languages, navigating, reading text aloud and answering questions. Aminu explained that the glasses can detect objects in front of the user, such as cars, buildings, and other obstacles that could block a visually impaired person’s path. Once an obstacle is detected, the glasses trigger an alarm and vibration to alert the user, allowing them to move toward a clear space and continue walking safely. According to him, his ultimate goal is to drive a powerful transformation in the field of technology. Significantly, many Nigerian youths are breaking new grounds.
