David Robinson led safety transparency at OpenAI. Now he's speaking out against the company. Robinson quit OpenAI this week and said the AI giant is moving too fast without regard for safety. Robinson said he would now work from outside the company to strengthen safety incentives. David Robinson, a leader on OpenAI's Safety Systems team who quit the company this week, once had ambitions to bring philosophy to journalism. A Rhodes Scholar, Robinson graduated from Princeton in 2004 with a degree in philosophy. At Princeton, he led the school newspaper's opinion section. In a 2003 interview with the Daily Princetonian, Robinson said he wanted to be the kind of reporter who "tells you what the facts are and then gets to the philosophical differences that explain the situation."
