One of New Zealand’s most celebrated cartoonists, Peter Bromhead , has died aged 93.
“Peter ‘carked it’ (as he liked to call it) peacefully at home in Rotorua, surrounded by his wife and family,” Bromhead’s family said in a statement to the Herald on Friday afternoon.
Bromhead’s work – wry, often minimalist cartoons of politicians and other wobbly characters – featured in New Zealand’s major newspapers and publications across many decades, including the NZ Herald , Herald on Sunday , Sunday Star-Times , Dominion , Truth and Listener.
He was the daily editorial cartoonist for Auckland’s former evening newspaper, the Auckland Star , for some 15 years from the early 1970s.
