Measures to revise school timings in Bengaluru City: Madhu Bangarappa

Karnataka's Minister for School Education, Madhu Bangarappa, announced that the government is considering revising school timings in Bengaluru to mitigate severe traffic congestion. The decision follows requests from private school associations and will involve inter-departmental consultations.
Why it matters
Urban infrastructure challenges in major Indian cities are increasingly forcing changes to public policy and daily institutional operations.
“An appropriate decision regarding the revision of school timings in Bengaluru city, in light of traffic congestion, will be taken after consulting various departments,” said Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa.
“The Private Schools Association has requested a change in school timings due to traffic congestion in Bengaluru. A decision on this matter will be taken soon,” he said.
He was speaking at an event at the St. Philomena’s Institution in Attibele on Saturday.
He noted that there is a demand to consider teachers serving in private schools for State-level teacher’s award, a matter currently under consideration by the government. A decision regarding this would be taken after consultations, he said.
