Speaking to reporters, Vaiko alleged that during the DMK's five-year rule, there was corruption everywhere and in land registration, money was obtained for every squarefeet of land. Immediately, a reporter intervened and asked why he had not spoken out against these issues while being part of the previous DMK govt, Vaiko responded saying "How can one oppose while remaining in an alliance?" and said it was against coalition ethics.
