Mchunu questions motive behind raid at KZN home

DURBAN - Suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has questioned the motive behind a raid at his KwaZulu-Natal home.

SAPS officials carried out the operation on Monday and seized electronic devices during the search.

Mchunu was placed on special leave in July last year after allegations emerged linking him to organised crime networks, claims he has disputed.

His spokesperson, Sthembiso Mshengu, says Mchunu believes the latest developments are part of a broader effort to damage him politically.

“There are processes that we are waiting for,” Mshengu said.

He said Mchunu would address South Africans once those processes had been completed and explain why he believes the events surrounding him are not accidental.
