KIBITI: THE Minister for Health Mohamed Mchengerwa has stressed the importance of ensuring that ambulances are used for their intended purposes, properly maintained and kept operational at all times to strengthen emergency medical services and save lives.

Mchengerwa made the remarks during a handover ceremony for an ambulance to Kibiti District in Pwani Region, saying the availability of an ambulance alone was not enough unless the vehicle remained operational, was equipped with essential medical supplies and was operated by trained personnel.

He said emergency services require round-the-clock preparedness because even a few minutes of delay can make the difference between life and death.
