McEntee set to be next Monaghan manager

The Oriel County spoke to a number of candidates during the week and it was the Armagh man who came out on top.
McEntee will be ratified at a meeting on Monday night where the hurling manager team of 2027 will also be confirmed. A football backroom team is not expected to be finalised until later in the month.
Gabriel Bannigan stepped down as Monaghan manager in August - first reported by RTÉ Sport - in somewhat acrimonious circumstances, releasing a lengthy statement citing "moving goalposts" around his plans to continue in 2027.
Andy McEntee and Séamus McEnaney are understood to have been interested in the position while Gavin Devlin and Enda McGinley were both linked early in the process before committing to Louth and Érrigal Ciaran respectively.
