MCD acts against 1,046 properties after Satya Niketan building collapse
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has intensified enforcement against illegal and unsafe buildings following a fatal collapse in Satya Niketan. Over 1,000 properties have faced action, including sealing and demolition, across various city zones.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken action against 1,046 properties over illegal construction and unsafe buildings between September 6 and October 10, averaging around 30 properties a day, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Sunday (October 11, 2026) .
The drive was intensified following the collapse of a multi-storey building in southeast Delhi’s Satya Niketan on September 6, which claimed seven lives, the CMO said.
On the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the MCD has stepped up action against illegal constructions and unsafe buildings across its 12 zones, according to an official statement.
Of the 1,046 properties against which action was taken, the highest number was recorded in the Rohini zone at 158, followed by South (121), Shahdara North (115), West, City-Sadar Paharganj and Shahdara South (87 each), Karol Bagh (85), Central (75), Civil Lines (63), Narela (62), Keshavpuram (61) and Najafgarh (45).
