MCC steps up drive against footpath encroachment across Mysuru
The Mysuru City Corporation has launched an anti-encroachment drive to clear footpaths occupied by businesses. The campaign aims to improve pedestrian safety and ensure public spaces remain unobstructed.
Why it matters
Urban management and the reclamation of public spaces are critical issues for growing cities struggling with congestion and informal commerce.
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has stepped up its drive to clear encroachments on footpaths across the city to ensure safe and unobstructed movement for pedestrians.
The campaign is being carried out in all nine MCC zones.
In Zone 7, civic workers cleared encroachments where footpaths had been occupied by businesses selling used wooden frames, doors, windows and other materials.
While several traders had reportedly removed their materials before the MCC launched the operation, making the exercise easier. However, the civic body proceeded with the drive against those who continued to occupy the footpaths despite being served notices.
