MCC removes 83 tonnes of garbage from C.V. Road
The Mysuru City Corporation conducted a major cleanup drive on C.V. Road, removing 83 tonnes of waste as part of an Independence Day initiative. Officials have warned that future illegal dumping will be met with strict penalties to ensure the area remains clean.

As part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) on Wednesday conducted a massive cleanliness drive on Chikka Veeranna Road (C.V. Road) under its ‘Swatantryotsava Swachhata Abhiyana-2026: 80 Garbage-Free Spots’ campaign.
The drive was led by Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy and MCC Commissioner Savita M.K., in the presence of Additional Commissioner Veena, senior civic officials, engineers, health inspectors, sanitation workers, local residents and office-bearers of the C.V. Road Residents’ Association.
During the drive, civic workers removed around 83 tonnes of waste, including mixed garbage, plastic waste, construction debris, scrap metal and other refuse that had been illegally dumped along both sides of the road over a prolonged period.
The clean-up operation involved five backhoe loaders, 10 tipper trucks and five dozers. Encroachments on public spaces and road margins were also cleared to improve traffic flow and restore the area’s cleanliness.
