MELAKA: MCA leaders have staged a walkout at the Barisan Nasional event to announce its candidates for the upcoming Melaka polls, saying the party would not accept decisions made without its consent.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the seats previously contested by the party were allocated to other parties without proper consultation, despite being a long-standing Barisan component party.
"MCA cannot be pushed around. We are a political party and we deserve to be treated with dignity. How can decisions be made on MCA's behalf without our agreement when the MCA president is still here?" he said.
Dr Wee said this after he, MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon and leaders from six MCA divisions in Melaka walked out of the event at the Melaka International Trade Centre here on Saturday (Oct 24).
