The New York City Council is reportedly gearing up for a hearing centered on the use of a hidden, encrypted messaging channel by the administration of NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani to feed favourable coverage to close to 200 social media influencers. According to a report by The New York Post, Manhattan lawmaker Gale Brewer, who chairs the council's Committee on Governmental Operations, State & Federal Legislation, has said that the hearing has been set for September 22.Alongside this, Queens Councilman Phil Wong is expected to introduce a separate bill demanding greater transparency from City Hall regarding this practice.
