TDP leader Palla Srinivasa Rao stated that the party has not yet finalized its mayoral candidate for upcoming local body elections. He emphasized the need for careful assessment of political equations and warned against misinformation campaigns targeting the alliance.
Why it matters
Local body elections are critical for the distribution of central funds, making candidate selection a high-stakes process for regional political parties.
Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao on Friday said that the party is yet to finalise its candidate for the Mayor post in the proposed local body elections. He added that before selecting the candidate many factors and equations would be taken into consideration.
Addressing a press conference at the TDP office here, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the party would hold a district-level meeting on September 12, followed by meetings at the Assembly constituency level, as part of preparations for the local body elections.
The TDP president said that the party would assess the capabilities of leaders, including the young leaders, and consider various political equations before finalising candidates. “The Mayor candidate has not been decided yet. We will discuss the issue at various levels and, in consultation with the party high command,” he said.
