Matthew Lillard has confessed that he’s "embarrassed" about returning for Scream 7 following Melissa Barrera’s firing from the slasher franchise.

During a recent Q&A, via a video posted on TikTok , the actor said Barrera was "on the right side of history" when she expressed support for Palestinians in 2023 amid the Israel-Hamas war.

"It's just human, it's like who we are ... I don't know what else to do," Lillard said. "For me ... I have queer kids; if I'm not standing up for queer kids or kids in the trans community, what the fuck am I doing?"
