Match Report: Alexander Isak scores winner as Liverpool beat Bournemouth

Liverpool went to the Vitality Stadium needing points rather more than poetry. They returned with both a 1-0 victory and another clean sheet, courtesy of Alexander Isak, on an afternoon when Andoni Iraola 's return to AFC Bournemouth provided more narrative than the football itself.

Isak's 57th minute goal separated the sides, moving Liverpool onto nine points from six Premier League matches and extending their sequence of league clean sheets to three.

For Iraola, there will be satisfaction in the result, even if the performance offered plenty to occupy him during the international break.

This was never likely to enter the collection of great Liverpool away performances. Chances were scarce, rhythm proved difficult to establish and AFC Bournemouth ensured their former manager endured an uncomfortable return.
