Mass transit proposal for Mysuru under review
The Karnataka government is reviewing a proposal for a mass transit system in Mysuru as part of its Comprehensive Mobility Plan. The initiative aims to improve urban infrastructure and sustainable transport across the state's major cities.

A proposal to introduce a mass transit system for Mysuru is under consideration as part of the draft Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP), with the State government also preparing long-term CMPs for all district headquarters and major cities in the State.
The proposal was reviewed during a meeting chaired by Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru recently to assess the progress of the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT).
Officials said CMPs, with a 20-year planning horizon, are intended to guide future investments in transport infrastructure and sustainable urban mobility.
For Mysuru, the draft CMP recommends introducing a mass transit system along high-demand travel corridors, in line with the State government’s ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ initiative which is aimed at strengthening urban transport in emerging cities.
Officials clarified that the Mysuru plan will be finalised only after stakeholder consultations and public feedback.
