Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated the three-day Pakistan International Auto Show 2026 at the Lahore Expo Centre.

During her visit, the chief minister met representatives and industry leaders from the automobile sector and appreciated their contribution to Pakistan's economic development.

Representatives of the electric vehicle industry praised the Punjab government's Green Taxi and Chief Minister Bike schemes, describing them as significant initiatives for promoting electric mobility.

Representatives of tractor manufacturing companies also welcomed the launch of the Green Tractor Scheme, saying it had helped strengthen local tractor manufacturing and encouraged domestic production.

Maryam Nawaz visited various stalls at the auto show and inspected electric vehicles, modern cars, motorcycles and generators. She also expressed interest in an electric ambulance and examined Suzuki's biogas vehicle model.
