Markets surge for sixth day; Sensex jumps 2,009 points
Indian stock markets rallied for the sixth consecutive day, with the Sensex jumping over 2,000 points following U.S. midterm election results and a decline in global oil prices. The Democratic Party's control of the U.S. Congress has influenced investor sentiment regarding global stability.
Why it matters
Market performance in India is increasingly sensitive to U.S. political shifts and global commodity price fluctuations.
Mumbai The BSE Sensex rallied nearly 2,009 points and the NSE Nifty surged 576 points on Thursday (November 5, 2026), amid a sharp decline in crude oil prices and hopes of a resolution to the West Asia conflict after the results of the midterm elections, where American voters gave the opposition Democratic Party control of the U.S. Congress.
