Mark Zuckerberg says Meta's Muse chatbot adoption is strong, but AI may not stay free
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company's 'Muse' AI chatbot has reached 10 million users and is being positioned as a key revenue driver. Meta is exploring monetization strategies, including shopping integrations, and expects the agent to eventually generate significant revenue.
Why it matters
This signals a shift in Meta's business model toward AI-driven commerce and the potential end of free-to-use AI services as companies seek profitability.
Meta introduced its personal AI agent Muse in September and is becoming central to the company’s plan to start making money off its massive investment in AI. Speaking during the earning call on October 1, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the company is already working on monetizing the agent, adding that he expects Muse to generate more revenue per user than its existing platforms – Facebook and Instagram. Zuckerberg revealed that despite being available only in the US and Canada, more than 10 million people have started using it since its rollout."Now that Muse has clear product market fit, we are entering a new phase and a more operational phase that is focused on scaling it," Zuckerberg said.
