Mariko Mori’s ‘All That Shines’ at Mori Art Museum: inside her landmark Tokyo exhibition

Growing up in the outskirts of Tokyo in the 70s, Japanese artist Mariko Mori has fond memories of the popular science-fiction series Astro Boy. “I was part of the generation of Osamu Tezuka’s animation and this was his projection of the future,” she recalls. “I remember playing with my friends, thinking about what the future may look like … we imagined different worlds.”
