Marcos Jr. attending BRICS summit in India

MANILA, Philippines - President Marcos will visit New Delhi, India from Sept. 12 to 13 to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit.

The President was invited by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his capacity as this year's chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), according to Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesperson Analyn Ratonel.

Ratonel said the Chief Executive will have the opportunity to explain the Philippines' key priorities as ASEAN chair to BRICS members. These priorities center on peace and security, people empowerment and prosperity.

BRICS was established as a grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and has since expanded to include other major emerging economies. The group serves as a platform for cooperation on economic, political and development issues.
