MANILA, Philippines - President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. arrived in New Delhi, India on Friday night, September 11, to attend the 18th BRICS Summit and meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Philippines seeks to deepen its strategic partnership with India.
Marcos, accompanied by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and several Cabinet officials, arrived at the Palam Air Force Station at 11:50 p.m. local time.
The September 12 to 13 summit will give Marcos an opportunity to present the Philippines' priorities as this year's chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to some of the world's largest emerging economies.
The Philippines was invited to the summit as an "Outreach Country," allowing it to participate in BRICS discussions despite not being a member of the bloc.
