Marc Marquez targeting “as close to 37 points as possible” at Aprilia-friendly Phillip Island

MotoGP champion Marc Marquez is aiming for a high points haul at the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island. Despite acknowledging that the circuit favors rival Aprilia, Marquez remains focused on closing the two-point gap with Jorge Martin in the championship standings.
Why it matters
This race is a critical juncture in the MotoGP world championship, highlighting the intense competition between top riders and manufacturers.
Marc Marquez says he wants to "get as close as possible" to a perfect 37-point haul at this weekend's Australian Grand Prix, despite admitting Phillip Island suits Ducati's rival Aprilia.
The reigning MotoGP champion is currently locked in a tight battle with Jorge Martin , with just two points separating the pair heading into the final five rounds of the season.
Marquez had previously trailed his championship rivals by over 100 points and had written himself out of the title fight, but a series of big results have propelled him towards the front.
The factory Ducati rider has claimed five double wins in the last 10 race weekends, with Martin the only other rider to achieve the feat this season, at Le Mans in May.
