The Department of Architecture at Sharnbasva University has begun mapping the historical Sharanabasveshwar Shrine and the Mahamane (Dasoha) as part of World Architecture Day, in Kalaburagi city.

The faculty members and students of the department, guided by senior architects including Ajai Chandran C.K., a renowned architect and senior professor in the School of Architecture at Christ University, Bengaluru, and senior architect Kalyani, took up the mapping of the shrine and its complex, including the Mahamane, which has its own place in the history.

The 18th-century Saint Sharanabasaveshwar, who made “Dasoha”, providing free food to the needy as a way of life in the region, had stayed in Mahamane in Kalaburagi till his last breath and the unique lamp “Nanda Deepa” lit by the saint before his death 250 years back still glows in the Mahamane.
