Manhyia South MP Baffour Awuah surrenders to EOCO, arrested

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the MP for Manhyia South, has been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following allegations of financial misconduct. The investigation centers on legal work performed by his former firm regarding debt recovery for SIC Life Savings and Loans.

The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office after voluntarily surrendering himself to assist with ongoing investigations.
In a news release issued on October 1, EOCO said the MP, who is also Senior Partner of Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, reported to its headquarters at approximately 10:00 am.
His appearance follows several months of efforts by the Office to secure his attendance before investigators in connection with allegations relating to criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, tax-related offences, and other matters under investigation.
The Office subsequently commenced the applicable investigative and operational procedures, following which Mr Baffour Awuah was placed under arrest. He is currently cooperating with investigators as the process proceeds.
