The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Fast Track Sessions Court-2, Mangaluru, sentenced Abdul Latheef G.A., a resident of Guruvayanakere in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment on finding him guilty of the rape of a minor girl.

Judge Maanu K.S., on Wednesday, convicted Latheef for offences punishable under Section 65(1) (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) and 12 (sexual harassment of a child) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. On Saturday, the judge sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹80,000.
