Mangalore University has suspended 16 postgraduate programmes during the 2026-27 academic year as the criteria for the minimum number of students required to teach a programme has not been fulfilled, according to Vice-Chancellor P.L. Dharma.
The postgraduate classes for 2026-27 began in September.
Replying to questions from presspersons on the sidelines of the Academic Council meeting at the university on Tuesday (September 29), he said that a minimum of 15 students are required to run a programme.
Those programmes (courses) not being offered are Analytical Chemistry, Electronics, Cyber Security, MEd, Sociology, MCom (HRD), Bioscience, Journalism, Tulu, Hindi, Konkani, Sanskrit, Statistics, Environment Science, Materials Science, Geo Informatics.
