Mandya officials told to implement Chief Minister’s drought preparedness directives

Mandya district officials have been ordered to implement drought preparedness measures following a significant southwest monsoon rainfall deficit in Karnataka. The directives include ensuring drinking water security for the upcoming summer and improving administrative efficiency through mandatory online attendance.
Why it matters
Proactive drought management is essential for mitigating the impact of climate-induced rainfall deficits on agriculture and public water supply in rural districts.
Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumar has directed all district officials to strictly implement the Chief Minister’s directives on drought preparedness in view of the deficient southwest monsoon and to take timely measures to address other public issues.
Chairing a meeting of district-level officers at his office on Sunday (July 19), Dr. Kumar instructed departments to begin planning immediately to ensure there is no shortage of drinking water during the next summer season.
He also expressed dissatisfaction over the implementation of the online attendance system across government departments. Officials were told to resolve technical issues without delay and ensure 100% online attendance by all officers and staff.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed officials to make effective use of the VB-G RAM G scheme and stressed that gram panchayats should prioritise livelihood-oriented works that directly benefit individual families instead of contractor-driven projects.
