Manchester United will not be able to welcome back Patrick Dorgu when they take on Roma this evening.

There had been a hope that the Dane could slot back in to solve the Red Devils' left-back problems after the versatile winger returned to team training on Monday .

Michael Carrick , the under-fire head coach, confirmed to the media that while the former Lecce man had made a comeback, he would not be involved in the Champions League tie.

"It was his first day with the group, great to have him back, but he won't be involved tomorrow," Carrick said. "We'll see how he progresses for the week [ahead]."

As such, it means that United are once again hamstrung in that position, with Luke Shaw also sidelined with a muscle problem.
