Manchester United travel to Craven Cottage on Sunday looking to arrest a difficult run of form that has brought defeats in the Manchester derby and an EFL Cup exit to Brighton & Hove Albion in the space of four days.

Michael Carrick's side have won only once in their opening four Premier League matches and sit 13th in the table. Carrick is expected to make wholesale changes from Wednesday's cup collapse, with a host of first-choice players returning to the side.

Carlos Baleba (ankle) remains sidelined, along with longer-term absentees Manuel Ugarte (knee), Tom Heaton and Amad Diallo , the latter yet to feature this season with an ankle injury sustained in pre-season. Matthijs de Ligt continues his recovery from back surgery and is back in individual training, though he has not yet rejoined the main group.
