A man with criminal antecedents was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon by an unidentified person at Lalbagh Junction on Mahatma Gandhi Road here on Saturday.

Police identified the injured man as Vicky Bappal. The incident occurred when Bappal was riding a motorcycle. The assailant, also on a motorcycle, followed him and swung a machete, injuring him on the neck, City Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy said, quoting eyewitnesses.

Bappal was shifted to a hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Police are searching for the assailant. Barke police have registered a case, Mr. Reddy said.
