Man who killed 9-year-old while fleeing police to be sentenced for dangerous driving causing death

Duane Nepoose, 32, pleaded guilty last year to charges of dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, robbery and flight from police.
Nepoose has a lengthy criminal record and is considered a “very high risk” to violently reoffend, according to prosecutor Todd Buziak, who proposed a prison sentence of up to 10 and a half years.
Defence lawyers Rebecca Snukal and Sam Taylor asked Justice Indra Maharah to impose a seven- to nine-year sentence.

About 20 minutes later, police spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull it over.
Nepoose fled and hit speeds of up to 180 km/h.
On Macleod Trail, Nepoose blew a red light, crashing into a car driven by Amanda Reitmeier, whose two daughters were also in the vehicle.
