Man United Legends at Odds Over Man City Title Stance

Former Manchester United players are divided over whether Manchester City should be stripped of their Premier League titles following financial misconduct charges. While some legends like Wayne Rooney and Roy Keane argue against accepting the titles, Paul Scholes has publicly criticized his former teammates for their stance.
Why it matters
The debate highlights the integrity of sporting achievements and the complex ethical considerations surrounding retroactive punishment in professional sports.
Manchester City facing potential relegation and having their Premier League titles stripped has attracted strong reactions from former players, with many of the comments being controversial, to say the least.
City were found guilty of more than 100 charges covering the period between 2009 and 2018 by an independent commission and could face serious sanctions, which will be decided during a separate independent commission hearing.
Some of the biggest statements have come from former Manchester United players, including Wayne Rooney. Despite calling for punishment against the club, Rooney stated that City should not be stripped of their past Premier League titles.
"I wouldn't feel comfortable about accepting another Premier League medal if I'm being honest, because I don't think we deserve it," Rooney said.
