The Malur police have arrested a 36-year-old private firm employee for allegedly strangling his wife’s male friend over an alleged extramarital relationship and later dumping the body in a water sump and sealing it. The incident occurred near Chikka Tirupati in Malur taluk of Kolar district on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Venkatesh, 36, a resident of Sonnenahalli, and the accused, Suresh, and his friend Santosh were arrested.

According to the police, Venkatesh was allegedly in a relationship with Suresh’s wife. Suresh had reportedly warned the two several times, but they did not pay heed to him.

Suresh and Santosh allegedly consumed alcohol together before attacking Venkatesh.

The two allegedly strangled Venkatesh and subsequently dumped his body inside a water sump and closed it.
