Man shot dead in Kundapura by business partner

A 45 year-old man from Barkur was shot dead in the early hours of July 31 in Kundapura, Udupi district, allegedly by his business partner.
Police gave the name of the deceased as Ivan Richard Mascarenhas, a native of Hebri who was residing in Barkur, Brahmavara taluk. They gave the name of the assailant as Derrick Crasta, 50, a native of Kannada Kudru who is residing in Kundapura town.
Police suspect a financial dispute between the victim and the assailant. On July 30 night, Crasta reportedly called Mascarenhas, and they had a heated exchange of words over financial matters. The assailant reportedly dared the victim to come to Kundapura, and shared a location, near Holy Rosario church in Kundapura.
