Man sentenced to life term for murdering wife near Coimbatore

Judge S. Mageswari Banu Rekha awarded the punishment to Murugan (58) of Ajjanur near Vadavalli in Coimbatore. He was also fined ₹5,000.
According to the police, Murugan used to torture his wife Malliga under the influence of alcohol. He assaulted his wife on September 22, 2016 and hospitalised her, stating that she had a seizure. The woman died without responding to treatment.
The Vadavalli police registered a case for suspicious death and the investigation revealed that Malliga had been murdered. The police submitted the charge-sheet against Murugan in the same year.
