Man sentenced to 20 years’ RI for repeatedly raping minor girl

A district and sessions and fast-track court in Mangaluru sentenced a 20-year-old man to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a total fine of ₹65,000 on Thursday on charges of repeatedly raping a minor girl.
Additional District and Sessions and Fast-Track Court II Special Judge K.S. Manu passed the orders of conviction and sentence against Maclin Noronha, son of Gilbert Noronha and a resident of Divinagara, Kunjathbail, in the city. Noronha was convicted of rape under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and of penetrative sexual assault and storing child sexual exploitative and abuse material under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
