According to the police, the girl frequently visited her grandmother in Addagudur and had allegedly fallen in love with the man, who is a major.
Her family had earlier complained that the man was stalking her, following which police registered a case under Section 11 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. T he girl was sent to the Bharosa centre for recording her statement on Monday. After the process, her parents took her back to their home in Malakpet.
