Man on parole held on murder charge; four others also arrested by Dindigul police

Dindigul police have arrested five individuals, including a man on parole, for attempting to extort money from a local finance company owner. The suspects allegedly threatened the victim and attempted to steal his gold chain before fleeing the scene.

The Dindigul district police arrested five persons, including Selvakumar (34), who had been serving term at Madurai Central Prisons in connection with an honour killing crime involving the death of Udumalaipet Shankar on Saturday.
Following a complaint from Palpandi (35) of Salaiyur in Dindigul district, the Taluk Police had registered a case.
Superintendent of Police Jeyakumar had formed special teams.
It is said that some five to six persons had visited Palpandi’s premises and demanded money. He has been running a finance company.
When he refused to give money, the gang led by Selvakumar had threatened him with dire consequences and forcibly pulled off his gold chain weighing 12 sovereigns. When he raised an alarm, the gang left the valuables and escaped.
