Man kills his mother, daughter during quarrel in Dharmapuri

A 45-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (August 29) for allegedly hacking his mother and his 19-year-old daughter to death. The incident occurred at their house in Athikarapatti Amman Street near Pappireddipatti in Dharmapuri district on Friday night.
According to police, the accused, Suresh, a labourer, lived with his mother Umarani and daughter Chinmayi. His wife Shalini lived separately from him.
On Friday night, Suresh, in an inebriated state, verbally abused Shalini. Hearing this, Chinmayi quarrelled with her father. Angered, Suresh allegedly attacked his daughter with a sickle. On seeing this, Umarani tried to stop Suresh, but he allegedly attacked her too, killing her on the spot.
