A man was arrested for allegedly stealing valuables worth nearly ₹75 lakh from his grandmother’s residence, the Kadapa police said, adding that they have cracked the case within 48 hours after the complaint was filed.
According to the police, Kuppam Leelavathamma, a senior citizen residing at Vijayadurga Colony, complained that unknown persons had forcibly broken open the locks of her residence and stolen approximately 66 sovereigns of gold jewellery kept inside the house on July 30 at 6.30 a.m.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Shelke Nachiketh Viswanath monitored the investigation and directed all concerned wings to launch an intensive investigation. Special teams, comprising the Kadapa Taluk Police, Cyber Crime Unit, fingerprint experts, and a dog squad, rushed to the scene.
