A 29-year-old man was arrested for selling liquor at higher prices in Begum Bazar on Gandhi Jayanti, when wine shops remained closed, Goshamahal police said.
The accused, Arjun Singh of Begum Bazar, was allegedly found selling liquor without a valid licence near Labour Adda during police patrolling around 1 p.m. on Friday.
Police seized 20 Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) bottles, amounting to 2.4 litres, from his possession. These included six 180-ml Good Day Prestige Whisky bottles and 14 90-ml Officer’s Choice bottles.
According to the police, Singh had allegedly purchased the liquor at lower prices and was selling it at premium rates, taking advantage of the closure of wine shops on Gandhi Jayanti.
