A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly posing as a police officer and tricking a two-wheeler rider into handing over his vehicle in Koyambedu.
The police said Shankar, 53, a resident of School Street in Koyambedu, runs a tiffin shop. On July 31, Shankar was riding towards the Koyambedu market when Ramesh, 42, of Kollimedu in Avadi, allegedly intercepted him. He took Shankar’s vehicle key, claiming that he needed to conduct a check. He asked Shankar to blow into a device and told him that he smelt of alcohol. He then took possession of his two-wheeler, made Shankar sit behind him, and rode towards School Street.
