Penumuru police on Friday arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly murdering his father following a family dispute and seized a knife, blood-stained clothes and a motorcycle from him.
The accused, S. Jokeshu Reddy alias Balaji, an earthmover operator, had been living separately at Penumuru for about nine years following marital differences, the police said.
According to the police, on September 2, his wife, Chudamani, called her father-in-law, S. Chenga Reddy, and complained that Jokeshu frequently consumed liquor, picked up quarrels and had accumulated debts. She reportedly asked him to come to their house the next morning to settle the issue when Jokeshu returned home.
Fearing that his father would reprimand him for his drinking and debts in front of his wife, Jokeshu allegedly decided to kill him. He went to his native place, Manikyarayunipalli, carrying a knife.
