The Nampally police on Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old man for obstructing, intimidating and verbally abusing traffic police personnel while they were regulating traffic at Taj Island Junction on Monday.
According to police, home guard K. Ravinder of Abids Traffic Police Station was deployed at the junction along with Woman ASI Vani Sree and home guard Vijay Kumar. Ravinder was carrying an official departmental camera to document traffic violations.
At around 3.30 p.m. on September 7, Ravinder noticed a two-wheeler (TS 09 GB 5336) being ridden by Mohd Rizwan from Gandhi Bhavan towards Nampally T-Junction with the rider not wearing a helmet. He photographed the violation as part of the enforcement process. The rider then took a U-turn, approached Ravinder from the wrong side of the road and confronted him. He abused the home guard with offensive language and obstructed him from carrying out his official duties, the police said.
