Man hacks girlfriend, her mother to death near Palladam

A 42-year-old woman and her 22-year-old daughter were hacked to death allegedly by the latter’s boyfriend following a dispute over their relationship near Palladam in Tiruppur district on Tuesday (August 11, 2026) morning.
The deceased were identified as Dhanalakshmi, 42, of Pachapalayam near Palladam, and her daughter Poovarasi, 22. Poovarasi was working at a mechanic showroom in the locality.
According to the police, Poovarasi had been in a relationship with Akshay, 27, a college student from Pattiveerampatti in Dindigul district, who was studying in Coimbatore. The two had reportedly been in a relationship for around four years after meeting on social media.
