Man gets life term for murdering woman

A 27-year-old man from Bommanahalli village in Ilvala hobli of Mysuru taluk has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a woman with whom he was in a relationship.

According to an official statement, the accused, Kiran Kumar, and the deceased, Preethu Kumari, were relatives and had been in a relationship. Although Preethu Kumari had married a man named Swamy about nine years earlier, she later left her husband and began living with Kiran Kumar in a rented house at Belavadi along with her three children.

The statement said the accused subsequently developed suspicions about her character and subjected her to physical and mental harassment. When Preethu Kumari informed him that she intended to leave him, he allegedly decided to kill her and kept a machete in the kitchen.
