The Mahila Court in Coimbatore has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his wife near Pollachi in 2023.

The court awarded the punishment to A. Arumugam (37) alias David, a wall painter by occupation, from Thoppampatti near Mahalingapuram, Pollachi.

As per the prosecution case, Arumugam suspected that his wife Karpagam (33) developed an extra marital affair. The woman allegedly wanted a divorce from him and started living with her parents.

Though Arumugam stayed with his parents at Palladam, he visited Pollachi for work in September 2023. He visited Karpagam on September 16 evening and demanded to live with him. The woman declined his demand, following which Arumugam stabbed her to death .
