Man gets life imprisonment for murdering pregnant wife

A Chikkamagaluru court has sentenced a 38-year-old man to life imprisonment for the murder of his pregnant wife. The court also ordered compensation for the victim's mother following the investigation by local police.

A Chikkamagaluru court, on Wednesday, convicted a person of murdering his pregnant wife and sentenced him to life imprisonment besides imposing a fine of ₹75,000.
Manjunath, 38, a construction worker, residing at Shankarapura in Chikkamagaluru town, was found guilty of murdering his wife. The couple had married for love.
After the marriage, he allegedly returned home drunk and assaulted his wife regularly. On January 14, 2025, when Sharada was nine-month pregnant, he assaulted her.
She was rushed to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences in Hassan, where she died after giving birth to a baby boy. Chikkamagaluru Women Police registered the case and Abhay Prakash Somanal filed the charge-sheet after investigating the case.
